🍴 Best Places to Eat on the North Shore of Oʻahu

From shrimp trucks to farm-fresh bites, here’s where we like to eat on the North Shore — local-style, low-key, and full of flavor.

🔥 1. Ray’s Kiawe Broiled Chicken – Haleʻiwa

This might be one of our favorite meals on the island maybe the world. Only open on weekends and worth the wait, Ray’s serves up juicy, smoky huli-huli chicken grilled over kiawe wood right next to Malama Market. Tender, charred in all the right ways, and absolutely loaded with flavor. You’ll smell it before you see it — just follow the smoke.

🦐 2. Romy’s Kahuku Prawns & Shrimp – Kahuku

Romy’s is a North Shore classic, serving shrimp that’s grown right on-site. The garlic butter shrimp plate is rich, saucy, and comes with plenty rice to soak it all up. It’s a little slower than other trucks, but that’s because they cook everything fresh. Worth every minute.

🌴 3. Waialua Bakery – Haleʻiwa

Family-run and full of aloha, Waialua Bakery makes fresh sandwiches on house-baked bread, smoothies, and big ol’ cookies. Perfect lunch stop after a morning at the beach. Pro tip: Grab the avocado sandwich and an açaí smoothie — it hits every time.

🍞 4. Mele Mele Bakery – Waialua

This hidden gem in Waialua serves up beautiful baked goods with a local twist — think Cinnamon rolls, mochi waffles, Fresh bagels, and don't forge their delicious drinks. Everything’s made from scratch and full of love. Get there early — they sell out fast!

🌽 5. Kahuku Farms Café – Kahuku

Fresh from the farm and served with aloha. Kahuku Farms does paninis, smoothies, and lilikoʻi-infused everything. Their Farm Pizza and grilled banana bread are local legends. Chill vibes and beautiful views of the farmland.

🐟 6. Poke for the People – Haleʻiwa

One of the freshest poke spots on the North Shore, this locally owned counter serves up daily-caught fish with unique homemade sauces. Try the spicy limu or shoyu wasabi over warm rice or as a poke bowl. Flavorful, fast, and packed with aloha — it's our go-to when we’re craving something fresh and local.

🍱 7. Paʻalaʻa Kai Mini-Mart – Waialua

This old-school local stop is famous for its Fried Chicken, spam musubi, and grab-and-go bentos. You’ll find everything from fried noodles to lumpia inside this humble Waialua favorite. It’s where locals go when they’re hungry and don’t want to wait.
